A call for calm and neutrality
Cry to freedom
A call for calm and neutrality

Submitted by Philpsy - 13 September 2001

America, on the 11th of September 2001, was under the biggest, most organised "terrorist" attack in recent history. We have all been drilled with the footage over and over again in all forms of the media. This done, we feel, in an attempt to make us associate ourselves with the people we are seeing and so feel as though they are us and this attack was against us. Britain has sided itself with America saying they stand at Americas' shoulder in this fight against terrorism. Do not let these things distract you from what is really going on here. On the 11th an attack was made directly against America. America, the country that is supposed to be best prepared and ready to stop and intercept all and any such attacks against it, was hit with the tragic reality that people considering them enemies, can in fact hurt them. Done in a manner they would have us believe they are only capable of. Again we make it clear that this was an attack against America, not against South Africa, Madagascar, Burundi or any other country. It was an attack against everything America stands for, the whole American way of life and its dominance and manipulation of the world.

We do feel for those who were hurt or suffered loss during this attack, we feel loss of life is pointless and unnecessary. We do not have to kill each other to get along. We do not have to focus on our differences. We do not have to be threatened by them. We do not have to fear each other. We must focus on what makes us the same. We must focus on the strength of humanity. We must focus on communicate to get along. On why we are one.

In the recent World Conference against Racism, held in Durban, South Africa, America walked out. This shows that they would not get over their own arrogance and self-importance to participate in resolving issues. America, far from being perfect in those regards, showed the rest of the world through those actions that they are not concerned with the problems of the rest of the world. One very such problem being that of Aids. An epidemic that is completing the destruction of Africa in a way the colonialization of the world could not. And yet we have the means to stop the suffering of those with this illness and money comes into focus. When drugs are available that can aid their suffering, should money even be considered? Anything that can stop that sort of suffering should be given freely not held onto for bargaining power. Millions of people through out Africa are homeless or hungry America brings up issues of Third World debt, squeezing the last drop form a drying well. America does not want to commit to resolving issues relevant to all human existence on this planet.
They are concerned only of themselves and would rather go to war to create a scene of devastation that the world must then bring itself out of, there by creating a much greater need for them. They have been holding power far too long now to release it willingly. We say NO to any involvement in this war. South Africa is the perfect example of why we say this. It is a country comprised of a multi-diverse group of human beings. People from all races, nations and creeds living as one in this country. How can South Africa as a country commit to any such war? It would be a total disregard for some of the people that make up the very thing it is. For this reason we say that NO country should be involved, for South Africa is a small-scale example of the larger picture of humanity on our planet. How can any one of us become involved in a war when it will be taking a total disregard for others in our human group? America is not concerned with the problems and difficulties in our countries, we must not be drawn into theirs. This is not our war and we must involve ourselves only in protest to any further action of violence.

Cry to Fredom

Submitted by John Tselchous - 13 September 2001

The fighters went bravely off to battle,
Herded together like sheep and cattle.
Off to fight a war for their precious god,
Who's just the pawn of some presidential sod.
Brotherhood of human kind is what He preaches,
But why listen to Him; listen to his teachers,
Who call up all the "brave and strong",
For what the other side believes, must be wrong.
Daily they kill and destroy each other,
Without knowing one another.
The ones that sent them don't care at all,
Which will stand and which will fall.
Those behind are persecuted,
Their right to freedom is refuted.
All mourn the loss of love,
And pray their lost, are up above,
Resting safe in the arms of their lord,
Who sent them out to die by the sword?
And when the time to vote has come,
All just vote for the very same bum,
Who will gather all the "patriotic" together,
And send them off in stormy weather,
To fight the enemy across the sea.
But there's no way they'll be sending me,
And if all of us say this,
There will be no war, just total bliss.
SO ALL OF YOU LET'S STAND AS ONE,
THE TIME FOR FREEDOM HAS BEGUN!
